Metering Pumps for Chemical & Petrochemical Plants

Metering and dosing pumps for chemical and petrochemical plants, built in Mumbai by Jagdish Engineering Works (JEW). We supply plunger and diaphragm metering pumps and relief valves for acid, alkali, solvent and additive dosing in batch and continuous processes.

Process chemicals are often corrosive, toxic or costly. A correctly specified metering pump doses the exact quantity every stroke and keeps the chemical contained.

Chemicals we dose in chemical and petrochemical plants

Chemical Where it is used Usual pump type Usual liquid end
Sulphuric acid Neutralisation, reactions Diaphragm or plunger Alloy 20
Hydrochloric acid pH control, pickling Diaphragm PVDF / PTFE
Caustic soda Neutralisation, scrubbers Plunger SS316
Solvents Process feed, blending Plunger SS316
Catalysts and additives Reactor feed Plunger or diaphragm SS316 / Hastelloy-C
Corrosion inhibitors Process and utility lines Plunger SS316
Hazardous or toxic liquids Any service needing zero leakage Diaphragm PTFE-lined head

This table is a starting guide. The right material depends on chemical concentration and temperature, so we confirm it with you before quoting.

JEW products for chemical plants

For multi-stream dosing we can supply multi-head pumps driven by one motor, and skid-mounted packages with tank, pump and relief valve.

Service, repair and spares

  • Repair and overhaul of JEW and other makes of metering pumps at our Goregaon (East), Mumbai works, with hydro and flow testing before dispatch.
  • Spares including diaphragms, check valves, seats, packing and seals.
  • Annual maintenance contracts so your dosing pumps are serviced on schedule instead of after a breakdown.

Why plants choose JEW

  • Manufacturing metering pumps and relief valves in Mumbai since 1969
  • Liquid ends in SS316, Alloy 20, Hastelloy-C, PP, PVDF and PTFE to match your chemical
  • Every pump pressure tested before dispatch

Frequently asked questions

Which pump should I use for a toxic or hazardous chemical?

A diaphragm pump is usually preferred because the diaphragm seals the chemical in and there is no gland leakage. We will suggest a liquid end material to suit the chemical.

Can one pump dose two chemicals?

Yes, with a multi-head (duplex or multiplex) pump. Each head has its own stroke adjustment, so each chemical is set separately.

What information do you need for a quote?

The chemical and its concentration, temperature, required flow (LPH), discharge pressure, and the power supply available at site.
